How it all started…
The Devaughn Design story began in 2020 in Marietta, Georgia, when Founder + Principal Designer Katelyn, along with her husband Thane, purchased their first home on Devaughn Drive. This charming house became the canvas where Katelyn discovered her true passion and talent for interior design. Eager to share their home-buying and decorating journey, Katelyn turned to Instagram, where her posts quickly resonated with a wide audience, transforming their personal project into something much larger and more inspiring than they ever imagined. Requests for Katelyn’s design expertise poured in, leading to the creation of Devaughn Design.
They say when life gives you lemons…you make lemonade; well, that is exactly what Katelyn did with Devaughn Design.
Today, Devaughn Design is committed to creating beautiful and uniquely personalized spaces that embrace the warmth and comfort of hygge. Our key values center around intentional design, providing comfort, fostering connections, and creating environments that invite you to return again and again. We want you to love your home and live in hygge.
hygge —
Pronounced as ‘hue-gah,’ is a uniquely Danish term that captures a feeling of coziness, warmth, and togetherness.
It embraces soft lighting and natural textures with a minimalist approach, encouraging relaxation and connection with others.
Meet our Founder,
Katelyn Bento Maudslien
Hi, I’m Katelyn — First, thank you so much for being here, and I look forward to hopefully working alongside you and your family!
My path to interior design has been anything but ordinary.
Before diving into this world of hard hats, endless paint color decisions, and samples, I spent over a decade as a wedding and event planner. So, my love for the littlest details has always been at the heart of everything I do. During my years in the hospitality industry, I specialized in crafting unforgettable experiences and environments for some of life’s most cherished moments. This role taught me the importance of details, the power of aesthetics, and the art of bringing a vision to life through organization. Managing vendors and coordinating countless events over the past ten-plus years has given me the expertise to integrate diverse elements into cohesive and stunning results.
After renovating and redesigning multiple homes and helping friends and family over the years, I finally followed their advice and started my own interior design business. It only took four years of convincing, but here we are! I'm excited to help even more families create beautiful and intentional designs in their homes.
When I’m not daydreaming about crafting the perfect home or designing my client’s next project, I'm in my kitchen cooking and entertaining with my husband, Thane, and our 5-pound dog, Mia. Hosting a delicious dinner party is one of my favorite pastimes! There is nothing better than good company in a beautiful home.
